Women are the fabric of our communities. Yet many are caught in cycles of hardship—single mothers, women battling illness, or those rebuilding after loss. Zakat for Her offers a lifeline, helping Muslim women reclaim their independence, heal, and rise to strengthen the very communities they hold together.
In 2023, NZF Canada raised over $834,000 to support women in crisis, providing vital assistance to 654 women across Canada. These numbers are more than just figures; they represent real women whose lives have been changed. Every contribution, no matter how small, is part of a collective effort to rebuild lives, restore independence, and offer new hope for the future.

Allah reminds us of the sincerity of His righteous servants in the Quran: "We feed you only for the sake of Allah" (Quran, 76:9).
This highlights that the act of charity remains solely for Allah’s pleasure, regardless of any worldly rewards. As long as your intention remains sincere and for the sake of Allah, the financial benefit you gain from tax savings does not cancel your Zakat or Sadaqah (by the will of Allah). You are simply following a legal process to claim the money that belongs to you. Many people donate that tax liability reduction again which multiplies their rewards (by the will of Allah)!

Any donation made to a registered Charity, like National Zakat Foundation, allows you to claim the charitable contribution’s non-refundable tax credit on your tax return as long as you have an official donation receipt. An official donation receipt shall be issued by the registered charity only if the donation amount was higher than $20.
In Canada, when you donate to registered charity, and upon claiming the donation amount of donation on your tax return, you can get non-refundable tax credit that lowers the amount of taxes you owe to the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) according to the following formula and rates:
This means that the more you give beyond $200, the more you save on your taxes!
Each province has its own set of tax credits for charitable donations. This means the financial benefits you receive for your contributions can vary significantly. For example, a donation that earns you a specific credit in Ontario might yield a different amount in Quebec or British Columbia.
No matter where you live, keep accurate records of your charitable donations like receipts so you can claim all eligible deductions on your tax return.
Also, consider consulting with a local tax professional or advisor who understands the charitable tax rules in your province.
Yes it is, and here are three reasons why:
The Ansaar (Supporters) were the inhabitants of Madinah who welcomed and supported the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and the Muhajirun (emigrants from Makkah). Their selflessness, generosity, and strong sense of community were instrumental in the establishment and spread of Islam.
Allah praises them in the Qur'an: "As for the foremost—the first of the Emigrants and the Supporters—and those who follow them in goodness, Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him." (9:100)
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said to the Ansaar: "You are dearest to me amongst people." (Muslim)
Let us strive to be like the Ansaar, always ready to extend a helping hand, foster community, and work together for the common good, seeking the pleasure of Allah in all that we do.
