This year, we are celebrating 10 Years of Local Zakat at National Zakat Foundation Canada.

Over the years, the Canadian Muslim community has consistently supported their brothers and sisters in need, upholding their obligation to Allah and following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (SAW).  

Because of the unwavering belief in the power of local Zakat in our community, we have impacted the lives of over 30,000 individuals across the country over the past decade alone.  

Join us for our 10 Year Anniversary Fundraising Gala as we celebrate this milestone and remember Allah as the Creator of Zakat, a flawless system of giving. May He enable us to continue serving the needs of our community!

About the Speakers:

Sh. Abdul Nasir Jangda

Shaykh Abdul Nasir Jangda is the founder, director, and instructor at Qalam. He is a faculty member at the Qalam Seminary where he teaches Sahih Bukhari, advanced Tafseer, Usul, Fiqh, and Balagha. He has completed an extensive study of the life of the Prophet ﷺ in the Seerah Podcast. He annually teaches the Seerah Intensive and leads groups on the Seerah Umrah tour and a visit to Masjid Al-Aqsa.

Born and raised in Dallas, he currently resides there with his wife and three children. He memorized the Qur’an in Karachi at an early age. After high school, he returned to Karachi to study the Islamic sciences full-time at Jamia Binoria where he specialized in Fiqh and Tafsir. He graduated from the rigorous ‘alim program in 2001 at the top of his class. He also attained a B.A. and M.A. in Arabic from Karachi University while completing a Masters in Islamic Studies from the University of Sindh. After returning home, he taught at the local university and Islamic schools and served as the Imam in the Dallas area.

Imam Nabil Khan

Imam Nabil Khan was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. He began Islamic studies at Al-Ihsan Institute at the age of 15, where he became a Graduate of the Dars Nizami under the supervision of Mufti Aasim Rashid and other esteemed instructors. In the 5th year, Imam Nabil Khan also studied in Darul Uloom Bury in the UK. He currently serves as an Imam in several local mosques leading prayers, teaching youth, and conducting programs of all varieties including Arabic and Islamic studies. He is a Shari’ah Advisor and a member of NZF Canada’s Shari’ah Advisory Board.

Shaykh Hacene Chebbani

Shaykh Hacene Chebbani graduated with a Bachelors in Shari’ah from the Islamic University of Madinah in 1993. While there he took the opportunity to study Aqīdah, Fiqh and Hadīth with some of the notable scholars of the blessed city. He went on to complete his Masters in Islamic Finance from the UK in 2012. Shaykh Hacene has served as Shari’ah consultant and headteacher in a number of organizations for many years. He is currently an Imam in Calgary where he gives regular classes, counselling, and leads prayers. He is a senior scholar in NZF Canada’s Shari’ah Advisory Board.
