How was your Iftar today?
~ The Prophet Mohammed (SAW) said: "Do not turn away a poor man even if all you have is half a date. If you love the poor and bring them near to you, God will bring you near him on the Day of Resurrection."
(Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith 1376)
Assalamualaikum Warahmatullah,
Aren't we so blessed by the grace of Allah to have such immense prosperity in our lives? If our biggest struggle during Iftar today was to make sure we didn't eat too much, we have a lot to thank Allah for.
Every Ramadan, NZF caseworkers are constantly approached by individuals who don't have enough money to feed their families in this blessed month. They have to make the tough decision of choosing between purchasing food or paying for rent.
There is a growing concern about the magnitude of poverty in the Canadian Muslim community as many assume people back home are more worthy of charity - or some fail to admit the problem exists at all.
However, it is shocking to know that 1 in 8 Canadian families struggle to put food on the table. Unfortunately, 32% of them are children (Daily Bread Food Bank, 2015).
This Ramadan, National Zakat Foundation is on a mission to ensure no Zakat recipient is turned away.
Do something special this Ramadan. Donate your Zakat locally.
