Do children pay Zakat?
No, children are not required to pay Zakat themselves.
However, if a child owns wealth above the nisab (minimum threshold), Zakat is still due on that wealth. In such cases, a guardian or parent is responsible for calculating and paying Zakat from the child’s assets. This includes savings, gifts, inheritance, or investments held in the child’s name. The Zakat should be calculated annually based on the total qualifying wealth. Zakat of a child is paid from a child’s wealth, not from the guardian's funds.
